Purchased as a pet out of a litter from two cattle-working Border Collies, Fran
soon discovered that being a princess was a lot more fun than being kicked in the
teeth by irritated bovines. The epitome of Border Collie brains.
She doesn’t mind bossing sheep around though, and is an ace Frisbee dog. We decided
to put her in the breed ring on a whim and she finished in four shows with four majors.
Franny gave us a wonderful litter in 2001 from
CH Kellagem Kalkite. One of these, Wildair Winds of Change (Argyle) is being
shared with his fabulous co-owners, John and Jenn Sevener of Puyallup, WA. Argyle began his show career with BOW all four
days in Portland! He came out again in the spring and picked up a major. Argyle finished in the summer of 2004.
Argyle's sister, "Morgan", retained by the Fishes in Camas, WA, was off to a big start in 2003 with two BOS wins over
specials! She finished handily and in 2004, first time out as a Special, took a Group 2 under Pat Hasting and went on to
several other Group placements, including two more Group 2s!! Morgan went on to give us two fabulous litters, with several
already finished, more on the way, and a bunch getting started in performance events. We are very proud of these littermates!
The lovely Morgan comes out of retirement at age seven to win two Awards of Merit at the 2008 National and Regional specialties.
Not one to lay about, Franny started a career in flyball at the tender age of nine years. Three years
later, she has her ONYX and is still going strong-getting speeds of 4.5 seconds! Fran will decide
when she is ready to quit. So far, her vet says she is in perfect health and shows no signs of slowing
down.
In 2008, her grandaughter, LizBeth, joins Fran in the flyball line up. LizBeth looks to be a real
contender.
We have been extremely fortunate to have had Fran as one of our foundation bitches. I know that she
will contribute for years to come many fine qualities that we do not want our breed to lose. Fran now
resides with her "main Mom", Pam Duncanson, as a beloved pet and companion. Thanks, Pam, for the loan
of her genes!
