Dog Gone Geese!

Tess and Tia at the dock My dogs, unlike their wild cousins, do not have to "work for a living"! Our beguiling canines have used their brains to figure out how to get us humans to give them room and board just for the privilege of their amazing presence.

However, they DO love a good game and, although some things we humans come up with seem less than amusing to them, at other times they let us know that we hit it spot on!
Enter "Dog Gone Geese" our "non-job".

I have friends who are long time employee/managers at a local resort and they had a "goose problem". I told them that they needed a Border Collie and they said, "Show us!" So we did.

None of my dogs had ever done anything like this, of course, but I had complete faith. It didn't take long for them to realize that, "Hey! Mom WANTS us to chase these!"

Since that time, the dogs have become local heroes! No more goose mess! And they get to swim nearly every day. They are not above going in after a stick if the geese have found greener pastures that day.(which happens more and more!) All we have to do is make an appearance and any goose in sight heads somewhere else. Argyle getting in

I feel this is quite an accomplishment since this resort is right on a major river that is 1/2 mile wide at this point. There is no way the dogs can chase them up and down the river all day. Thankfully, the geese don't seem to know this. We can always out wait them.

So, aside from keeping me sane and reasonably healthy, digging their own "septic" holes, putting up with those pesky dog shows and producing lovely babies for me, my guys have taken on this additional "task". I believe that they more than earn a living. They make the world a better place just by being. And they never, ever remind me of how much they do for me. They just want to know what I want next!
