Little "Roree" hit the ground running at her very first
show-The National!-where she placed third in Sweeps and first in her
class on Sunday. (did not show Sat due to conflict) Roree was barely
six months old. She LOVED it! This spark came back home to her second
weekend where she picked up a few points and continued to show her
heart out.
I thank her owner, Karen Marquardt, for doing such a fabulous job
raising and training this girl. She has only just begun to shine.
Allegro is Rachel's littermate and made a
big splash his first time out at the shows by going BOW at the NorCal
Herding Breeds Specialty for a 4pt major. He picked up some singles as
well, and two major Reserves.
Allegro is back home with his biggest fan, Mary Hibbert on Vancouver
Island, B.C. getting ready to go back down to the USA in the spring.
Maybe he and Rachel will be seeing each other again!
"Jett" is owned and loved by his best
friend, Noel Sieh in Nebraska. I just knew that he was special, but
could not keep another boy here, so I thought of Noel, and luckily, she
decided to take him on.
Jett is going all kinds of places and getting ready for several
careers. He even got his first two points out of the 6-9 puppy class
with a BOB over a special! Thanks to Noel for seeing what I saw in this
boy and doing a GREAT job with him!
Violet is Rime's (Ch.Wildair Winter
Light) well-behaved twin! Of course, it helps that her owner, Carol
Garman is an excellent trainer and is devoted to this sweet girl!
Violet plays with Carol's Briards, so I am pretty sure that there is
not much that will phase her.
Violet earns her NA in one weekend in February 2007! Then, in limited
trials, she easily gains her OA and OAJ. Violet now has her AX, gained
with a first place! Violet now has her AXJ and AAD to add to her AX.
Violet finished her championship on July 19, 2008. Congrats, Carol!
What a team you two make!
In August 2005, we had a very special
litter born at Wildair from CH Brackenhill Royal Tartan X Ch. Wildair
Tonalee Love's Look. There were two blue girls and a lone black boy. "Rime" (here at Wildair) and "Violet's" beautiful black brother
went to live in Canada with the Jeskes and their Briarlane Beagles.
"Royson" picked up his first major (5pts!) at ten months, along with
his sister Rime!
Royson and his dam, Kyla, had the honor to be the first two Border
Collies EVER shown in Breed in Canada! Royson won the first point!
"Page" (namesake Jimmy Page) is Jones'
brother and is living the life with Dani Alexander in Oregon. Watch for
Page in the breed ring for now, but obedience and agility are on his
horizon, too! Visit him here.
My dear Jones has gone to the most perfect
Border Collie paradise with a family he is crazy about, as an only dog.
(he does have cat brothers, but they are peaceful together!) It broke
my heart to part with him, but we always do what is best for the dogs,
right? I will have the best memories of my boy Jones, and will probably
visit him from time to time. Be happy Jo!
Our "Jane" has had quite the eventful life
and contributed greatly to the breed in several different way. Besides
being a very talented goose dog, she made a big impression at the shows
in the Mid-West, while staying with her good friend, Kelly Whiteman.
Also while there, she had a bitter-sweet litter that contained four TNS
affected puppies that helped to finalize the way to a new DNA test for
that fatal disease. Two of her three pups that survived, are now
champions, one with a TD, also. She came home to Wildair to give us a
beautiful litter that is just reaching show age.
We feel that Jane, in her short life so far, has more than earned the
privilege of living life on the couch and she has gone to a forever
home with my good friends, the Kalmans, back in Idaho. There she
continues to charm and inspire!
After much soul searching, I decided to let
Jane's
sister, Gemma, go to a co-owner. Who could be more perfect for her than
the Culvers! She fits right in and is attending classes with John while
also keeping her half sister, Kate, in shape for the shows! Now Gemma
is busy keeping the boys extra clean of all food residue and trying
hard to stay out of mischief. Not succeeding, but trying...
At Gemma's first weekends out at the shows in 2005, she picked up nine
points. She went back out in the fall to find those elusive majors and
finished in one more weekend! Thanks Emily and Jenny Fish!
Kate has the most wonderful head I have
ever laid hands on and the structure to float around the ring! She also
has the beautiful coat and color typical of this family of blue merles
originating from the Clan-Abby kennel in New Zealand. Take a look at
her brother, Kenny,
also. Kate took a short foray into the ring in 2005 to pick up her
first nine points and after an "extended leave" went back into the ring
in 2006 to finish her title!
Dixie keeps things lively at Pairodocs Border Collies
where she is training for agility and obedience as well as the breed
ring.
Dixie picked up a couple of points
in her first few shows and fourth and second class placements
at the 2003 BCSA National weekend. Thanks to Chris and Stephanie
Gafford
for appreciating the angel inside this whirlwind!
A HUGE thanks also to Amanda Prince who so capably handled Dixie to her
4 majors to finish!
Kyla finished her Championship with five
majors in between goose hazing and having an outstanding litter by
Ch.Brackenhill Royal Tartan. From that litter of three, "Rime" went on to Best in Sweeps at the 2006
National! "Violet" and "Royson" both have major wins and
Violet also has the first of many agility titles to come under her belt.
Kyla is enjoying her life up in British Columbia with her son, "Royson"
and her devoted people, the Jeskes. She and Royson are now training in
agility, both to debut soon! Royson and Kyla, respectively, are also
the first Border Collies to set paw in the show ring in Canada! Each to
win a point! Thank you Jan and Alex!
I had the honor and luck to be the first to
use CH Kellagem Kalkite back in 2001.
He was bred to our "CH Francis" and the results were the two
outstanding littermates, Morgan and Argyle.
Morgan did some impressive winning on her way to her title, placing
over ranked Specials along the way.
In her first time out in mid-2004, Morgan won a Group 2 under Pat
Hastings! She now has 5 group placements - 3 of them Group 2s.
Trained and handled by her talented and dedicated owner, Jenny Fish,
Morgan is an exceptional example of the "OZ/American" cross.
Morgan came out for the first time as a Veteran at the 2008 BCSA
National and went home with an AOM from each day!
Our irrepressible boy from our 2001 litter.
"Argyle" has gone to live with his co-owners, John and Jenn Sevener in
western Washington State, with his new best friend, Smokey, the English
Shepherd. Argyle's first weekend out in January 2004 at Portland-BOW
all four days! Guy then went on to pick up his majors in the summer to
finish!
"Chesterfield" is Argyle and Morgan's
brother and is living the life with Leslie Wehr in Pennsylvania.
Chesterfield helps run Thyme on the Terrace: Casually Elegant Garden
Accents. Visit him here.
Splash is from one of the very first
litters born here at Wildair, from all working bred lines.
She finished with 2 BOB from Open and has one BOS as a special.
She is no slouch at performance, either, and
will be working on obedience with her wonderful owner, Jeanette Jolley.
I know she wanted to work stock when she was in Idaho, so we'll just
see how far Jeanette wants to take this girl! A more perfect match
between dog and owner has never been found!
